Olefins from fatty alcohols are produced by the reaction of α -olefins with water under the action of a catalyst.

α-olefin is an important organic material, can be used to make -olefin synthetic oil (PAO), alkyl benzene can also be produced. The α-olefin of C10-C14 can be used in the production of depressants;
